MANILA, Philippines – In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Stop Hunger, global movement to combat hunger and promote social inclusion, Sodexo Philippines recently mobilized more than 50 employee volunteers for its annual Servathon at the San Miguel Foundation Better World Tondo Center.
The initiative brought together employees and partners to support children and families througheducation, community engagement, and facility improvements. Sodexo volunteers provided one-on-one tutorial sessions for 40 children, offering personalized academic support and mentorship to help strengthen learning and build confidence. The event also empowered 50 mothers through learning sessions on fire prevention, health, nutrition, and wellbeing, led by Sodexo Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager and Nutritionist. Employees likewise donated clothes and other essential household items to families supported by the Better World Center.
As part of its commitment to creating lasting community impact, Sodexo partnered with Steam Jet Corporation to renovate the Better World Center kitchen, helping provide a safer environment for preparing nutritious meals. Volunteers also immersed themselves in the community, spending time with families to better understand their realities and strengthen connections built on empathy and respect. The Servathon is expected to benefit more than 3,000 people through its direct and indirect impact.
”Celebrating 30 years of Stop Hunger reminds us that meaningful change happens when organizations, partners, and volunteers come together with a shared purpose” said Paul Debaprateem, Managing Director of Sodexo Philippines. ”Through initiatives like Servathon, we continue to invest in communities by sharing our time, expertise, and resources to help create better opportunities for all”.
