The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines is pleased to welcome Institut Catholique d’Arts et Métiers (ICAM) as its new NGO/Educational Institution member!
Icam is a network of 13 engineering schools throughout the world, in France, Central Africa, South America and Asia. In all, some 10,000 students are involved in the Icam project, which is to provide students with engineering skills, but also a strong consciousness of the world’s challenges.
Icam has three core activities:
- Higher education and research, with a generalist Icam engineering diploma for initial and continuing training, and a specialized “Industrial Digital Systems” engineering course.
- Business Services, where staff and student engineers work like a design office (around 200 projects carried out every year),
- Vocational Training, which offers training in industrial trades, from the CAP to the Mastère Spécialisé®, as well as production schools, which support young people who wish to find their professional way.
In the Philippines, Icam has a strong alliance with Ateneo de Manila University since the year 2000. Every year around 20+ French, Cameroonian and Congolese students participate in academic and research semestral/yearly mobility exchanges in the Philippines. Joint research collaborations focus around transportation optimization, renewable energy, robotics applications and industrial project management. Icam’s international students also participate in local internships in various engineering sectors.
This 2025, Icam launched a joint BS Innovation Design Engineering degree with Ateneo – the Philippine’s first multidisciplinary engineering course. Patterned after Icam’s diploma in France, the students will be participating in a year-abroad in France, and will also be applying for local and international internships in the coming years. The first launch has been successful, with an initial cohort of 26 students.
