[Paris, October 8, 2024] — RATP Dev and Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) are delighted to mark ten years of successful collaboration on the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1). This partnership has been crucial in facilitating the daily mobility of over 350,000 passengers, making LRT-1 an essential component of one of Southeast Asia’s oldest transport systems.

Over the past decade, RATP Dev and LRMC have overcome numerous challenges, particularly those arising from Manila’s increasing urban density. Despite these hurdles, the partnership has flourished, significantly enhancing the region’s public transportation landscape.

Known as the Green Line, LRT Line 1 is the first metro line of the Manila LRT system. Operational since 1984, LRT-1 has been a cornerstone of Manila’s public transport network covering 20 km with 20 stations.

Henri Pottier, CEO Asia-Pacific for RATP Dev said: “As we celebrate this milestone, we reflect on the incredible journey we’ve had with LRMC. Our shared commitment to improving public transportation in Manila has been the cornerstone of our success. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and bringing even more innovative solutions to the region”.

RATP Dev also serves as a technical advisor for the Manila Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) Cavite Extension project. This initiative will extend the current 20.7 km LRT Line 1 by approximately 11.7 km, further boosting connectivity in the Metro Manila area.

The Cavite Extension project aims to ease traffic congestion and stimulate commercial development around the rail stations. The extended line will reduce travel time between Baclaran and Bacoor from 70 minutes to 25 minutes, benefiting 800,000 passengers daily.
