On Tuesday, French Ambassador to the Philippines, Her Excellency Marie Fontanel, along with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Air France KLM announced that Air France will recommence direct flights between Manila and Paris starting December 8.

The DOTr anticipates that this new route will enhance trade and tourism between the two nations. Femke Kroese, General Manager of Air France KLM for Southeast Asia and Oceania, indicated that tickets for the new flights will be available for purchase online starting Tuesday, September 10.

“We aim to offer attractive fares for the Filipino community traveling to Paris,” Kroese stated. “Additionally, we will introduce promotional fares shortly.”

Air France will operate three direct flights each week, specifically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, Kroese confirmed. “These flights will be nighttime departures, allowing passengers to arrive in Paris in the morning and enjoy the entire day for exploration,” she explained.

Highlighting French culture, Kroese added, “Champagne will be served to all passengers, ensuring a stylish arrival in Paris.” French Ambassador to the Philippines, Marie Fontanel, assured that the embassy is prepared to handle the anticipated increase in visa applications. “This direct flight is a much-anticipated development for many Filipinos and French partners,” Fontanel noted. “We expect a surge in visa requests and will focus on increasing our capacity to issue them.”

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has also signed a memorandum of understanding with French counterparts to enhance capacity building and improve safety and efficiency in civil aviation management, according to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista. “This comprehensive cooperation will involve adopting industry best practices,” Bautista said. He added that the partnership is part of preparations for an audit of Manila’s main airport scheduled for early 2025.
