MAKATI CITY (CCIFP) – “The Philippines is currently one of the fastest growing economies in ASEAN. Businesses seeking to enter Southeast Asia see the Philippines as the region’s point of entry and one of the top new markets for expansion,” said HSBC Asia Pacific Co-CEO Surendra Rosha in his opening speech.

HSBC Philippines, one of the country’s leading full-service international banks, successfully concluded its flagship conference “On Fertile Ground: Offering a World of Opportunity in the Philippines” last September 27 at the Rizal Ballroom in Makati Shangri-La.

The event mainly delved into the economic prospects that the Philippines has seen lately. Distinguished officials were also able to share valuable insights into the country’s economic trends and development plans, emphasizing the importance of public-private partnerships (PPP) in driving growth and innovation.

High-ranking officials from key Philippine government departments and global corporations were also present and participated in addressing the increasing economic prospects and challenges in the country. After the panel discussion, attendees were able to network and converse with other personalities during the post-event cocktail reception.

In a news article by Manila Bulletin, the Philippines, in summary, notwithstanding its economic hurdles, has managed to remain a key investment destination in Southeast Asia. The Philippines remains an attractive market for investors due to its young population, strong services sector, and government efforts. Speakers put emphasis on the opportunity in the increasing population of working-age Filipinos, improving consumption rates in the country, competitive wage prices, and other key drivers for business expansion during the discourse. HSBC Philippines President and CEO Sandeep Uppal also shared that The Philippines’ opportunity is best defined by the 3 “Gs”–a growing economy; growing population; and growing trade liberalization, making the country an attractive investment destination.”

“[Philippines] is indeed on fertile ground, ready and geared up for growth,” Rosha said.
