According to Labor Undersecretary Benjo Benevides, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is set to release an advisory regarding paid isolation and quarantine benefits brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic in the coming days. This advisory is aimed to provide concrete guidelines when it comes to COVID-19 positive cases within a given labor force, and the obligations a company has when it comes to employee benefits and payment during their [the employee’s] mandatory isolation/ quarantine period. Labor groups throughout the country have shown support for the coming advisory, as they believe a paid isolation period would allow employees to have a more serious approach when it comes to quarantine. More information will be made available in the coming days, once the advisory has been finalized and published.
